AEMITEQ – Associação para a Inovação Tecnológica em Análise Química, located in Portugal, is a leading laboratory dedicated to chemical analysis and technical services across a wide range of industrial sectors. With a strong focus on accuracy and innovation, AEMITEQ sought to improve the quality and efficiency of its trace metal analysis workflow, especially for challenging matrices. The main challenge involved the high risk of contamination and elevated costs associated with the frequent purchase of high-purity acids required for ICP-MS analysis. To overcome these issues, AEMITEQ implemented the Milestone duoPUR, a sub-boiling acid purification system designed to produce ultrapure nitric and hydrochloric acid directly in the lab. Used for 4–5 hours daily, the duoPUR system significantly improved the reliability and sensitivity of trace element analysis while reducing external acid purchasing costs. The lab achieved an annual saving of approximately €20,000 and enhanced overall analytical performance.
